OBSTRUCTED TEAR DUCTS
If your baby's eye waters continuously, he may have a blocked tear duct. In this common condition, the channel that normally carries tears from the eye to the nose is blocked. Most tear ducts open by the time your child is one year old. You may be able to aid in the recovery of this by massaging your baby's tear duct gently with a cloth diaper or clean fingertips (not fingernails) with each diaper change. If the discharge is green and goopy, please contact your doctor during office hours.
